Re: What makes you happy

Postby Shan » Sun Jun 24, 2018 11:00 am

In the now-deleted post, Jon G said: "A group of us turned in after a walk in the area. Straight away when we ordered the locals realised we were English and then started talking in Welsh and laughing.

"They then put the jukebox on really loud, so much so we couldn't hear our conversation.

"We drank up and moved to the pub next door.

Great response to this ballix -

In his response, landlord Dewi Sion claimed Jon G had reviewed the wrong pub.

He wrote: "Thank you very much for your review. I can assure you that I very much enjoyed reading it.

"Can I say that I fully empathise with the dilemma that you felt with visiting the/a pub.

"I and a few of my friends have been victims of this exact same scenario whilst on holiday in Hungary, France, Spain and Germany.

"We were absolutely devastated by the fact that when we walked into the bar everyone started conversing in Hungarian, French, Spanish and German instead of Welsh!

"What is surprising though that this is not an uncommon occurrence though as an acquaintance of mine who is from Amadeupcountry who is fluent in Amadeuplanguage once told me of his visit to Shropshire when he became thirsty and in need of a beer.

"He was heartbroken to hear everyone change their language from Amadeuplanguage to English!

"So, as you see, I do apologise for what happened; but to be honest I do feel that you have been just a tiny bit judgemental in your review."

Mr Sion continued to mock the reviewer and said he hopes he never visits the pub again.

"Having said this (because I can't stay mad), you are obviously forgiven because you clearly had no idea where you were,” he wrote.

"The evidence to this is obvious in the fact that this public house does not have a pub within a half a mile radius to it, therefore you could have not possibly gone next door.

"No one in this pub has any recollection of you being here and quite frankly, with an attitude like yours I really hope that you never will.

"But however, if you do come here again/for the first time please introduce yourself in whatever language you choose so long as you understand Welsh for 'get out' and 'bigot'."

Irish-based Ryanair pilots to strike on 12 July

Have they something else planned for that particular day? :D

The ongoing rescue of the Thai lads and extra kudos to the plucky wee b*ggers for keeping Engerland off the news

Hope they're in no hurry to rescue the clampitt that took them all down there.

There is a general sense of anti-Welsh feeling around this forum, however, today I had splendid craic with, Kath & Noel from next door. They don't own it, that's Kath's brother, Linden & Meryl, but the whole family use it so I'm getting well used to singy songy Welsh voices next door much of the time.

Anyway, Noel & Kath are from Pontypool and we were chatting away, oh what fun we had, spitting every time one of us mentioned Thatcher, or an even greater figure of hate in the Valleys, Winston bloody Churchill who sent the army into duff up the Tonypandy miners in 1911. Of course, Noel was well impressed that a bogtrotter would know offhand when Churchill sent the army in to attack the Welsh, but I told him I'm from a long line of communists and socialists.

Anyway, the older wans amongst you will recall the Aberfan disaster in the sixties when an unstable slag heap engulfed a school with well over a 100 kids and adults killed. Aberfan is in the Taff Valley just 4 miles from Merthyr Tydfil. Noel told me that when Wingnut of Wales was still married to Diana Princess of Hearts, the hospital in Merthyr was named the Prince of Wales hospital and that when an extension was added on to the side of the hospital it was known locally as the Parker-Bowles Ward, the bit on the side.

Now don't tell me the Welsh have no sense of humour. :D

The bad news is that Meryl has had a bad fall in her bathroom, smashed her head and has had to be placed in a medical coma. They tried to bring her round this afternoon but her blood pressure rocketed and back into the coma she went. Anyway, tonight Meryl joins several other good people in my thoughts, people who are in trouble, coma, cancer, depression covers the three I'm most bothered about.

All I can say to you all is live life for today, tomorrow never comes for many, make the best of what is allotted to you, don't sweat the small stuff, and FFFS don't take any bullshit here too seriously, there lies the road to a myocardial infarction.

Sorry, I went all Jerry Springer on you'all there, until next time, take care of yourself........ and each other.

Hard to look at 20th century history objectively and not come to the conclusion that Churchill was a right kunt.

It didn't, came second to favourite High Nellie. At least it doesn't appear to have done an ACL.

Ravenhill finished 2nd? Sound about right. Did Kingspan finish just outside the Top 4?
