There is a general sense of anti-Welsh feeling around this forum, however, today I had splendid craic with, Kath & Noel from next door. They don't own it, that's Kath's brother, Linden & Meryl, but the whole family use it so I'm getting well used to singy songy Welsh voices next door much of the time.
Anyway, Noel & Kath are from Pontypool and we were chatting away, oh what fun we had, spitting every time one of us mentioned Thatcher, or an even greater figure of hate in the Valleys, Winston bloody Churchill who sent the army into duff up the Tonypandy miners in 1911. Of course, Noel was well impressed that a bogtrotter would know offhand when Churchill sent the army in to attack the Welsh, but I told him I'm from a long line of communists and socialists.
Anyway, the older wans amongst you will recall the Aberfan disaster in the sixties when an unstable slag heap engulfed a school with well over a 100 kids and adults killed. Aberfan is in the Taff Valley just 4 miles from Merthyr Tydfil. Noel told me that when Wingnut of Wales was still married to Diana Princess of Hearts, the hospital in Merthyr was named the Prince of Wales hospital and that when an extension was added on to the side of the hospital it was known locally as the Parker-Bowles Ward, the bit on the side.
Now don't tell me the Welsh have no sense of humour.
The bad news is that Meryl has had a bad fall in her bathroom, smashed her head and has had to be placed in a medical coma. They tried to bring her round this afternoon but her blood pressure rocketed and back into the coma she went. Anyway, tonight Meryl joins several other good people in my thoughts, people who are in trouble, coma, cancer, depression covers the three I'm most bothered about.
All I can say to you all is live life for today, tomorrow never comes for many, make the best of what is allotted to you, don't sweat the small stuff, and FFFS don't take any bullshit here too seriously, there lies the road to a myocardial infarction.
Sorry, I went all Jerry Springer on you'all there, until next time, take care of yourself........ and each other.
