It once provided enough electricity to support the entire demand in the country. Now it supports about 2% of the demand. Feck how things change in a fairly short time.

Turlough hill featured in my inter cert geography.
Pump up the water at night when demand for electricity is low and release that to generate electricity during the day when demand is high.
Sounded great but you don't hear much about it now and they never built another.
Makes me wonder if it was all it was made out to be.
Also on mature reflection it's a bit of vandalism slicing off the top of a hill like that.
