Six Nations B

Post by Neill_M »

One game left in this year's championship. Georgia in pole position to win it, 5 points clear of Romania and hosting their nearest rivals in Tbilisi. A win for Spain in Brussels will see them qualify for the RWC and go into Ireland's group. It may also see them finish 2nd in the Championship. Romania may still end up in Ireland's RWC if they can reach the PO game v Samoa and win it. Germany will probably finish last and face a P&R PO with the winners of the next level down - Portugal leading the way there.

Hmmmm, Spain lost to Belgium 18-10 to hand Romania the RWC spot.

They get a 2nd chance to make it via a playoff v Samoa later in the year.

Interesting that World Rugby appointed a Romanian ref for the game........

It was Rugby Europe that appointed the ref.

May not be over yet amigo

The good news:

The bad news:

Los Leones have employed Toby Hedworth QC to represent their interests.

No matter the feelings towards the referee the scenes at the end were nothing short of a disgrace

I foresee some lifetime bans for Los Leones

Proof of a "Latin temperament" reduces any ban by 50%

Hopefully there will be some clarity this week re the Belgium Spain game and #refgate.

In addition, there are claims that Romania, Spain and Belgium have played an ineligible player in the recent games. Romania played a Tongan lad who did his 3 year residency, but may have tied himself to Tonga by playing 7s for them before arriving in Romania. Spain have a player who may have tied himself to France by playing a 20s game 10 years ago or so and the Belgium lad was playing on the basis of a Belgian granny.

All of these are being investigated apparently. Tahiti got kicked out of RWC qualification for fielding ineligible players, so it is possible this may happen to none/some/all of the above.

Kicking Spain out would solve their problem over a viciously biased Romanian refbastard, if it happens I shall recommend to King Felippe that he despatches two legions of Catalans to invade Romania.
