Good or bad?

Discuss.
Bad as he will start to over analyse things
Not so sure about that Rooster, he always ran a pretty simple game plan knowing where his team's strengths lay.
Aye but will Joe Schit agree with that ?

RoG not the most creative out half to wear a green jersey and possibly the luckiest to play outside possibly one of the best passing scrum halfs to play for Ireland .

Springer's weakness was he was predictable and also annoying with his arm waving and was lucky not to be penalised for it .

When's the summer tour squad announcement?

Can't see any news anywhere, Wales etc now announced. Really only care to see if a certain second rower gets nailed down as an Ireland player!! A few of our guys could do with a bit more game time too

Boycott FIRFU & FJapan. :D

Ireland should change their anthem for the tour & have Dame Vear singing "Whale Meat".
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Yes and what they do to bottle nose dolphins is fcuking barbaric. Everyone should watch the documentary 'The Cove'. They herd dolphins into a cove and then slaughter them with metal spikes. It's illegal to do this to cows in Japan. Kuntz.

Who is the other match against? Oh yeah the country that dropped two atomic bombs on the other country. Not to mention the thousands of civilians killed by the US since WW2.

When are we playing North Korea?

Plus Jackson and Luke. Four players. Feck me. Well we have five including Cooney. I suspect Cooney is there so FIRFU can say we have an international 9.

Cooney is a left-field selection in some ways but it's bloody terrifying to think that, actually, there is no one else... Paul Marshall and Duncan Williams aside... Let's face it, at 39, Stringer is Ireland's fourth best scrum-half and that is terrifying. Disappointed for McCloskey. If Luke Marshall can make it on recent form then McCloskey must be a fair bit away from the Ireland squad. Suspect the talking point will be Gilroy. Let's hope this sort of omission is the kind of kick up the backside he needs to realise the he seriously needs to up his game!

I think Trimble will be asking some questions, but I suppose his form has been questionable. Stockdale getting selected despite not making the first XV for Ulster in recent games, shows that Joe and Les have very different views on player selection.

Were this the Autumn Internationals, I'm sure Trimble would be in there, along with Kearney and Heaslip. As it is, I'm glad that all aren't there. Trimble has had such a staccato season with injuries that getting a proper rest and a proper pre-season will be good for the player, Ulster and Ireland. Don't think this is a suggestion that Trimble is out of the mix. Ditto, Kearney and Heaslip, who also aren't going. What is clear is that Ireland need new wing options. Ireland had four outside backs in the Lions squad in 2009; 3 in 2013; and none this time around if you follow Schmidt's thinking that Payne is a centre. More importantly, though: it was 3 wings and 2 respectively in 2009 and 2013; none this season. To me, wing has been one of the reasons why Ireland have struggled to score in too many test games in the last couple of years. You can make arguments about them not being used, which is right to a certain degree but I'm not sure any of Ireland's wings would get into the 23's of England, France, Scotland or Wales. New blood is needed. And while this is Japan and USA in a Lions summer, I'm glad to see that guys who'll be around in a couple of years getting a shot.

Im very surprised to see both Stu and Craig omitted. I hope that they found out ahead of time and not the same way as us, I would have thought both would have been preparing to go.

Completely agree re Ireland and the back three. I thought that was the difference between winning and losing the six nations this year. 1-13 looked the business, but there was virtually no contribution from wing/fullback, when you compare that to the likes of Scotland who had both Hogg and Seymour making a real impact on matches.

Hopefully some of these guys can use the experience to push on. REALLY hope its Stockdale (and Cooney for that matter)
