Statistics, eh?
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Do I not remember them taking one against the head in the 2nd half?

You might BR, the statos don't so did it happen or are stats largely a pile of shyte, at least, trying to read too much into them is a pile.

It's not uncommon to look at statistics after a game and ponder, based on that how did we win/lose/draw.

In my opinion too many stats are given, the main three, points scored, tries scored and penalties are generally the real indicators, the first two so feckin' obvious that they are not really relevant, the most important for me, other than the scoreline is the penalty count. If you are by a distance on the better side of that, you'll win many more than you lose. Only 4 conceded against NZ is actually an awesome achievement, second only to the scoreline.

Perhaps making good players into clever players is what makes Schmidtferbrains the coach he is. We could do with some of that at Ulster.

Though not a stat, I was glad to hear that he took Bob aside before the match and told him he needed a good game. At least some indication there that his status as undroppable was wavering. Though doubtless now that's him for the next 10 years at 15 despite his calamitous missed tackle rate.

There lies --Damned lies -- and Statistics

The problem is the speed and nature of the game after a set piece

Does every break mean a missed tackle? Does every turn over result from a ball won and guarantee it was won legally .

If won illegally is this not a penalty which was failed to be given thus distorting the penalty count .

Thus statistics can reflect perception instead of reality

Posession and territory are combined. Those are always separated out so not sure where you got that from. ABs generally seem to play with less posession these days as team hold onto the ball a lot more against them. When they have the ball they tend to play quite high risk so it's either a try or a turnover pretty quick.
Climb up onto the top of your house and start screaming: 'stand up for the Ulstermen, stand.......'
