Warburton having decided to call it a day - was he the best Lions Captain in living memory or just an overhyped Welshman ?

When I seen a thread entitled "and now for something different" and the instigator of said thread is rumn....

I'm surprised its this "conventional".

I thought it would be postulations on how Martians would play rugby on the moon or something

Begs the question how good could Shananananananan be if he had opposable thumbs?

He'd probably escape from his hamster cage though.

:red: Statistically a double undefeated Lions captain, world cup semi finalists and grand slam captain should deserve huge accolade.
Gets at best a mild shrug of the shoulders from me.

Why? I suppose he was extremely professional and honest but by feck he is dull.
DULL DULL DULL DULL DULL!
Comparing him to a Willie John say would be a bit like comparing the New Star Wars films to the originals.
Even though both are successful what the modern versions can't buy is soul and character that stand the test of time.

Ah, a sensible response to Ron'n's very slightly misplaced thread.

Liz, or may I call you Jizzbeg?

I'd like to ask you to ruminate on this and come back to me. Accepting what you say about character and the authenticity of the original, may we consider then, that the problem lies with what the Lions have become, a moneyspinner, rather than the magic they once held when touring for three months and really playing in all arts & parts of whichever country they toured.

Id est, the Lions are as much a problem as the worthy Warburton, who like POM & Murray struggles to overcome Ulsterfan "racism" in the same way as many other fine players. Id est, the Lions have lost their magic in terms of identity whilst, admittedly for many, they are still well worth watching.

#Warren Gatland.
#Irisharebogtrottingmuthafukkas

I contend that there is no longer any higher honour in the game than to play for Ulster. Even if some gobshites don't understand the honour conferred, isn't that right Hond?

Anyway dearest, I'll leave that with you.
