As I predicted, they won the breakdown and were magnificent.
But I got the result wrong. We won by 3 :mexican:
It was a nice touch giving Isa and Jordi the taking of the cup.

Apart from failing to pick the winner of a two horse race you were bang on D4.
Best team in the tournament deserved to win.
Weather slowed them up more than anything but like all good teams they found a way.
Particularly chuffed for Lancaster one of the good guys.

Talk me through it Liz, despite being in Spain I have not seen a second of it, what was the issue with the weather, I spent the day in 22-25 degrees but was through Bilbao on Monday & Tuesday and it was cool and misty.

15-12 I see, all kicks or was there anything worth seeing?
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

D4 got lucky. Carter withdrew before the game and Lambie done his knee 2 mins in. Racing were a bit rudderless. Their young 9 kicked well but was very slow at times.

Magnificent?  Hardly.
There was nothing magnificent about the entire game, a dreary risk free arm wrestle of a contest where the only important thing was the result.

Pretty much has been said Baggy a lot of rain before hand made for a greasy pitch and suited the bigger more physical Paris pack whilst slowing the Leinster play down.
Leinster couldn't get their quick phase play going at all as a result.

Basically both sides traded penalties with zero try scoring opportunities due to tight defensive play and over zealous officialdom.
Wayne Barnes didn't help the awful spectacle which was fairly stop start and at each breakdown you were just waiting for him to blow.
The game was therefore about territory as each side just looked to milk a penalty out of him.

Leinsters Ryan got mom but the French replacement 9 called in to start was outstanding and showed more control than most French 9s tend to do.

Leinster got their noses in front for the first time with 2 minutes to go.
This following a complete brain fart from Thomas who inexplicably ran blind from a lineout steal and was forced into touch handing Leinster the ball back deeper in the French half.
That was the blink first type of moment that was always going to decide the game.
Leinster went through a few phases from the resulting lineout until the inevitable penalty was awarded for offside in front of the sticks which Nacewa converted.

Paris regathered the ball from the restart and went through the phases but in overtime the 10 snatched at the drop goal opportunity to make it 15 all and sent the ball well wide from good Leinster pressure on the kick.
And that was that.

All in all a forgettable game but the best team in Europe won and they won't mind.

I only watched this in patches today but I note wee Joey didn’t get on.

Plug & Bomber clearly don’t trust him on the big occasions eh?

Haven't heard an excuse yet why janny gave up thr kicking duties as the match got tighter? Was he injured or just feeling the heat? For all his medals and praise i still wouldnt back him with a clutch kick come world cup time.

Indeed. Leinster are 4 times European Champions. What a pity they weren't more interested in entertainment via defensive inability and basket case rugby in general. :D :D
