Zebre away 15/17 April 2016

Post by HwoodMike2umate »

We fancy a bit of mid April sun in Italy. Haven't done Parma before so any tips on how to get there and where to stay, eat and drink would be most welcome.
Flights Aer Lingus Dublin to Milan coming in currently at under 100 euro return. :) Milan Linate looks good at leaving Dublin 7am on the Friday and leaving for home at 11am on the Monday. But does Malpensa have better rail connections to Parma? Any thoughts folks?

Actual day and kick off time not confirmed yet. Its the week after a possible QF, so numbers travelling may well depend on if there is a QF trip and where it is.

Probably Saturday and if we are away to Sarries there it's not hard to choose between Barnett and Parma

Parma would trump any return game v Sarries, regardless of venue!

Stayed there and liked it.

Ate there - delicious. Love the fluffy fried bread!

Need to convince my better half to turn down a wedding invitation that weekend...

You can fly to Parma direct from Stansted.

We will work on her next weekend Justin. Good choice of eating house by the way and very reasonable prices for the quality

Indeed you can Justin but flights out are either on a thursday OR Sat morning so until the ko is announced it won't be easy to arrange, unless you book to go for 4 or 5 days to Parma

Best way to get there is via Milan Linate and Malpenza it seems. Some good value re hotels Ibis Styles £125 for Fri-Mon. Star Hotel also apparently good just over £200. Best to wait regardless for a date/ko time.

We flew out to Parma and back from Milan last time.

Good train links between the two.

Very few taxis at Parma airport, especially for any sad cases who wait for the chartered flight from Belfast to arrive. . . . . .

Thursday to Tuesday Aer Lingus Dublin to Verona is an option for anyone looking a longer stay and possible easily by train as well for transfers as mid afternoon flights

For those who have been before: is there is a decent boozer similar to the celtic pub in Treviso? Is the ground easy to get to from centre of town? All help appreciated.
