How did we rate his work ethic in the warm up? Image

Apparently he insisted he only ever goes onto the field in his tractor.

Gonna give it to wee Dave.

Simply because of all the team, he probably played the closest to his potential. He has his limits, I don't think he's big enough, but fair fukks to him, did the job as best he could.

Most others (even Addison) dropped off too many first-up tackles.

Big Treadwell gets a notable mention - but I think he could still do so much more if he developed a nasty streak.

Would the wee medical buggy do?

Or would we need to replace it with a Kawasaki Mule first?

Hard to identify a MotM last night but certainly puzzled by the official one of Henry Speight

Doubt he would have even crossed my mind for the accolade

Honourable mentions for wee D, Tredders, Will Addison and debutant Rob Ballicking (or whatever you call him) - showed potential.

Would probably go with Michael Lowry though - clearance kicking was good (as was Phillips), and he has the ability to turn nothing into something.

Good to see so many nippers getting a chance, albeit against a mediocre dragons team (or is that too complimentary to them?)

Feck it, Shanners. Good game from the wee man and it could have been a tricky night if he'd been below par.

Shanners passing is tight. He has developed some real consistency with it.

Conversely, Rory's throwing is dung.

Regarding our lineout, Best is really starting to look his age. Cronin has been pretty eye catching for Leinster so far this season. His Ireland spot could be at risk.

I think our lineout is a systems failure

I don't quite buy that about Rory, Jackie, nearly but not quite. Rory is not in great form, however two things, 1) he was late back into things with a pretty long injury layoff, 2) yes Rory has miles on the clock but I'll be surprised if when he finds himself in a very good pack that he will not find his best form.

As a third, I suppose it's relevant that he is Schmidt's preferred option beyond any doubt and Schmidt no matter what is loyal, almost to a fault...........though I doubt sentimental when it comes to results, so Rory has to perform.

Treadwell. Best performance in an Ulster shirt just shows us what he in capable of. Magnificent big lad. Keep in up you dominated the line outs and a great break to set up the try.

Thought when Shanahan first arrived he was raw but would develop but under Kiss he seeme d to (a) get little game time (b) seemed to go backwardsr I was of the opinion that he should have been let go this summer but in fairness heads come up trumps when he has been thrown in at the deep end . His tries may not have been "wonder tries" but he has been in the right place to exploit the oppurtunities.
He seems to be growing in confidence each week and should be a a contestant for MOTM if only for his improvement and committment.
