Academy prop

Post by jackthelad »

I read elsewhere so don't know if it's correct, - that ex-Campbell prop John McKee has linked up with Leinster Rugby. I think he is a good prospect so why has this come to pass? Has he gone to Trinity or UCD perhaps?

Maybe Ulster Rugby would like to continue to have no looseheads cluttering up the academy.

Maybe big Mac is coming home?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

I believe he may have been offered a sub academy place - where you do the same work for none of the reward - so can understand why he looked at other options.

At least Reid is sub academy now but we'll see how things pan out there.

I look forward to a season of Tommy O'Hagan continuing to not be given opportunities.

I don't think Tommy is where he needs to be as a player yet. I've seen a fair bit of him playing and he's good, very good, but it's a massive step up required.

I get that he likely needs some more seasoning, but when you consider what we've got there right now and the good it can do exposing a player to senior rugby, it's daft that he's 25 now without a single cap to his name. Especially considering that we knew all through last season that we were losing Black and VDM was a dud, that he wasn't properly blooded seems mad.

How does O'Hagan compare to O'Sullivan?

O'Sullivan seems to have been signed to bolster Banbridge.

O Hagan has technique and a bit of bastar d, o Sullivan has technique with massive potential, but the bast Ard is questionable

I remember a wee interview on the UR site with O'Sullivan saying ball carrying was his best asset. I don't know if that's true I admire his self-belief. I hope the two above mentioned get some game time and we do not sign some IQ highlight-reel Harry.
