I'd say there's a good chance that he will be here a good bit before January. The SRU would be foolish to release him until they've a replacement in place, but given the proximity of the World Cup they also have a vested interested in this being sooner rather than later.

Suspect this, along with the agreeing the costs of any buy-outs was the reason that Bryn said it would be a few weeks befoe they would make an announcement, but the information has obviously leaked out so they might as well confirm it.

I am more surprised that a few days after being advised that there were very specific reasons for not confirming who the coach would be at this time that 10 minutes later it is all over the press...

Our CEO has already pointed the finger at Bryn and the PMC for this appointment.. albeit that the only ones pulling the strings were the CEO's puppet masters in D4.. will have to wait and see if we become Glasgow MkII and if Townsend rates him he may have something to offer.. but half way through the next season is a joke shop as we can write that off now and then have to give him the following season as we did with Kiss... that is the Ulster Way.

For those saying he must be alright if working under GT remember what we had foisted on us from arguably the best NH coach in a long time.

3rd sentence down.
Scots will want rid of him asap considering we play them first match 2019 RWC.
Certainly won't want any IRFU spies in the camp >seeya
As soon as they can get a replacement he's out..........
...........and with us for pre-season.

Have they not already called up the Worcester coach as an interim replacement?

FOLK had a number of uses but by the time he came here they were all outdated and FOLK was dead to Joe so he dumped him here. Gregor has brought McFarland with him on two different appointments that appear to have gone well.

I thought Lancaster was replacing FOLK, so who is McFarland replacing?

Preseason and H cup with Peel,my word Ulster are amateurs.

If I said 5 years to rebuild before I reckon it’s now 6.

No lessons learnt, we deserve what we get.

Why would the jocks want to keep him to January, surely the Autumn Internationals is the latest they would want him as why would they change a coach just before 6 Nations ?

A wee thought if we have Payne as defence still and Peel is a backs coach then why bring in Doake as a head coach as that leaves 3 backs coaching the forwards
