Are we allowed to talk about yesterday's game????

Post by Cornerfleg »

So risking life and limb... I decided to open a thread about Ulster Rugby actually playing rugby.... On a rugby forum.

Thought Riedy was above excellent yesterday, turn overs, tackles and speed to the breakdown. Cooney continues to impress. Stockcube now has an aura a presence that scares defenders, serioys prospect. Timoney has to be in our future plans. And with the spotlight on everything he does McPhilips could turn out a more than decent out half.

My fav Ulster player since the great one got the boot... Is Ludi. Just the personification of everything you want in a rugby player... Including being a really nice guy thrown in.

Is this grounds for any optimism, or a reaction to a Seasonus Horribilus.

I have not renewed my ST for any other reason that up till 3 weeks ago, it was not providing value for money as an entertainment outlet.

But the last 3 games i confess i enjoyed as a rugby fan and an Ulsterman.

Anyone else any rugby related observations????
Always ask yourself, "What would Big Rodney do"... And every time the answer is... "Eat It"

Timoney was fantastic I thought. The whole team had a new-found lease of life, hopefully this isn't just down to recent outrages. Has Farrell started working with us yet?

There were a lot of positives yesterday. Lineout still worries me and although our defence is manning up well, there are still too many mental errors.
I'm happy enough to conclude that composure will come next season when the team settles down to boring normality. Put all the crapola behind us and get on with playing rugby.

I don't know whether I'm relieved that there hasn't been an announcement of Jared's retirement or resigned that his contract hasn't been extended. It would be great to have him back.

I'm trying not to think that what we are now seeing is the Gibbes' influence that should have been there from September. That would just make me too angry.

Without Hendo and Rory I thought the pack was too soft but they really fronted up without those two. They finally did something that I have been calling for all season. Which was to tackle in pairs. One high and one low. It was very effective at stopping their ball carriers.

Just need a BP win in Thomond and Glasgow to hump Embra.

Have we not seen all this before: good start to the season to get the blood flowing, diabolical throughout the wind and rain of the winter, a flurry towards the end of the season as the climate changes giving us a glimmer of hope for the next season.....and repeat.

The difference between a dry ball and a wet ball players running into the ball rather than standing still, even Diack made it over the gain line .

The difference. Playing most of the game in the opposition half and your half .

And a belated congratulations to Mrs Henderson on the birth of her daughter hope both are doing well

Looks like the guys are functioning on adrenaline and anger at the minute. My only concern is that it is not sustainable and the ospreys having been at ravenspan lately will not fear coming back. We need to get to the level where that aggression and intensity happens on a consistent basis and that comes from the training pitch.

Baggy got the send off he deserved.

Feared the worst after they went over in the second half but, from the moment, FR hit the post it couldn't have gone much better.

Plenty of passion on show - Reidy would have kissed the badge if he could have reached it - and Timoney looks like a ready-made replacement for Tommy Bowe.
