His heart has been broken so many times playing for Ulster. He deserves this.

Never wrestle with a pig. You end up covered in muck and the pig loves it.

Delighted for him not just as an Ulsterman, but as someone who conducts himself so well on and off the pitch. He might nit have been a once in a generation player like BOD or POC, nor have the persona of ROG, but in his own understated way he has carved himself into Irish rugby history.

And after a bit of early paddy’s day luck, the darts were spot on today :thumleft: :thumleft:

Also a word for Rob Kearney who played very well in the last couple of games. I was critical earlier in the tournament of his selection as he has not performed well for ireland in recent times, but he finished this 6N’s strongly.

He's my captain, and those two pricks in the dock could learn from him.

How anyone could not revere Rory as a player and a man is beyond me. The Ireland team has been a blessed relief for him over recent years as a bumbling clown ruined any chance he might have to do something memorable with Ulster.

There are several Ulster players who despaired of what has happened in the last few years and nobody had more cause than Rory, the kiwibastard Schmidt at least recognised what he had, a man held in the utmost respect by his team and Rory has repaid Schmidt tenfold with big game wins Ireland have only ever dreamed of. As far as I am aware Schmidt told Rory a couple of seasons back he wanted him to captain Ireland to the next RWC, I may not like him but Schmidt is very hard to fault.

There was one moment I put down to not entirely but largely to Rory and it was that scrum where they shunted England on about 50 minutes, Hartley was blowing out of his hole and Rory was still strong, marched him back & up popped Hartley, penalty.

The greatest asset Rory has given Schmidt is that he has been cool in a crisis and spreads it to his players. Of course many here regard him as a shyte captain. :duh:
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

I still smirk every time I think of the night at a dinner when Keith Wood said he would never be good enough to be an International hooker
