About time the IRFU started an NFL type draft for the Ireland U20s team.

Play a trial match at the start of season, all of the young players from the 32 counties and exiles play in it.... those not picked get led into a changing room with fake showers, which instead gas the likes of Herron etc

Joe will not just want them up here. He will want them to start. Plug will pick Byrne. He definitely favours him. The net result is having an unproven 10 getting in the way of developing our own young 10s. We currently have to face the reality of blooding a new 10 in order to have a longterm option at flyhalf. We have decent prospects for the first time since Jacko. Having Carberry for a season will only delay this process.

The galling aspect is that this is a mess of the FIRFU's making in which they fcuked us over. Now they wish to use us in a misguided attempt to solve THEIR problem.

That's what I was thinking, then Janny retires with a bang to the headstring or after the RWC and we are back to the start as whoever comes up heads back to Leinster if he is good enough for them to want him

Is Lowry the best Ulsterman?
What P14 side would you currently trust him against?
Who would be next in line?
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

If it happens it needs to be on a 2 year contract minimum.
In fact I don’t think we should ever really be handing out one years (with the odd exception like Terblanche) contracts or extensions. If they aren’t willing to stay for a minimum of 2 then we don’t want them. If they aren’t clearly good enough that it’s worth a two year deal then we don’t want them.

Well, that being the case we do need somebody. If we can get Byrne or Carbery, it would be preferable to using our one available NIQ spot on a 10.

We kicked up a fuss and got nowhere. Munster kicked up a fuss and got nowhere. This will test the theory that Leinster get what they want.

He said it was a rumour. Not necessarily insider info.
