You could be right Russ. Paddy Macs contract is up at Glaws I think, and at the very least is a step up, which would be some sort of progress..

Black has not turned 32, as our best and most reliable loosehead at present we should contract him for the foreseeable future. Player of the season..... we’ll probably not but take him out and this season would have been a bigger shambles.

STATEMENT ON STEPHEN DONALD
22 January 2018 10:18am
By Richard Finlay
Stephen Donald
Unfortunately, Ulster Rugby is not in a position to proceed with the signing of Stephen Donald, after receiving a medical report on the player yesterday (Sunday).

Stephen had agreed a short-term deal to join the Province, but he sustained an injury while representing his club in the final game of the Japanese season, which will rule him out for 4+ weeks.

The timeline now makes it very difficult to find a suitable replacement, but we will continue to monitor the market

So we're left with a guy who hasn't started a game yet, our 4th choice full-back and one of our worst ever signings. What a choice to play out-half!!!

Seriously fecked.

Plus point being UR can't use his signing to bury the shambles of the season.
All the talk of working hard in training and playing for the shirt has been continually exposed for the bullshyte soundbite which even the like of Tony Blair wouldn't have repeated so often.
Lame excuses and platitudes. We deserve better.

I think most of us would be glad to see this happen.

How many Donald threads will we get?
How many separate new posts will appear over on URSC?

I’m not even contemplating it happening because the most important thing at Spanners is not success on the pitch and certainly not future success, it’s about crowd numbers in the here and now.

It cannot have escaped the attention of even the stupidest amongst us that yesterday a pack would have helped but by the living Jesus, so would an outhalf. Maybe CL was caught up in trying to deliver in his last game but he was woeful. Great fella, I wish him nothing but good things but god I hope there is no plan for the longer term. Man is a centre.
Ach I already don't much rate McPhillips though.

It is the same water that hardens the egg that softens the potato. It is not your situation but what you are made of that counts.

Statement from new UR Press/PR officer

Everything will be fine. We have learned many many lessons this week and will be working very very hard in training. Ulster Rugby are believing Les Kiss is the best coach in the Northern Hemisphere right now and we are building to world domination. All is good.
