If we get a Barrett, could it be a M107A1 ? I could solve the Band problem quite quickly with it, but I don't have a great view of the wee Glass House.

That could be very messy in the back of the Family stand  Wouldn't like to be up round Forestside if you miss

what's the point in McPhillips if he isn't going to play?

You could say the same about any of them

Could be argued not many of them have played all season.

Stephen Donald looked in the fittest shape of his life as a squad back up for the chiefs in this years Super. Being the playmaker for a team under pressure in the NH is a different proposition. Ask any knowledgeable Bath supporter. If He's happy playing lower grade rugby in NZ, that's beautiful.

Giteau is a battle axe who should finish his career in Japan.
If he agrees to play another season in Japan, I'd doubt he'd want to fit in an Ulster stint.

Berrick Barnes would be an outlier choice. A forgotten talent, only 31, never played Club rugby in the NH but Interested in coaching. And fresh as a daisy.

First time I heard playing for the Chiefs in Super Rugby as a lower grade...

We signed a couple of young players as the future but neither appears to be making any progress whatsoever and from what some say are getting outplayed even at AIL. Part of the problem again is the BS that we are fed when we sign a young player and promote a playing CV that has no bearing on reality. Why does anyone then wonder when he doesn't produce the goods..

McPhillips I hear mixed things about, some reports that he has got on decently for Hinch, some not so much. I will say as well for Herron, he certainly does seem to score a lot of tries for Ballymena.

By lower grade I mean't local rugby for Manukau as a follow on from the Chiefs S18 season!!
Donald didn't start any of the Manukau games I saw this autumn. Used as a back up 10/12.

To be clear the Chiefs, like all the NZ Super franchises and the Lions in Africa, play a brand of fast threaded rugby not seen in the NH Club game.

When we're out of contention for honours shortly after Christmas, give the academy guys a chance to show what they can do. I don't mean minutes at the end of a game that has been won or lost, but a run of games to build their confidence. Can it be any worse?

Is previous Ulster legend Mike Stanley injured? If so, we should sign him again so he can play next to no matches.

I'm with Oldie and Rooster earlier on this. Give some of the young lads a run and put it down to a 'rebuilding' season. It'll take more than a miracle to get us into the top four and the play-offs and another one to get us out of the Sooper Dooper Cup group so why not blood McPhillips and some other young lads for the future and just play for the fun of it for the next few months?

I'm with oldie, rooster and solids. My remaining hope for this season is that the nippers go well.

yeh when the season is over give them a shot then those that know better can keep them or dump them.. but at least they will have a chance to prove themselves. We will probably continue the Cairns approach to development.
