OK thanks for that N+'d I think therefore I may not exist. Nah, Latin never my strong point. Anyway, Quo Vadis, caveat emptor, semper fi and pogue mahone.nonplussed wrote:Dave wrote:Do I exist?

That's enough gin, Ed.

Re: Jono Gibbes - New Head Coach
Gibbes looks like a great option. Just a wee comment on Ruan as a potential coach. Ruan is brilliant in every way but I'm not sure about him as a coach. It's his brilliance that worries me. I get the feeling that so much of what he does is so natural that it can't be coached. Maybe even he doesn't know how he does it.'; it's instinctive He would make a great mentor and a fantastic example to young players at all levels, but can a genius be a great coach? Good players can make great coaches but does greatness in a player give him enough empathy with lesser mortals to be able to be a great coach?
On the other hand there's Johan Cruyff.

Interesting thought. Could Donald Trump replace Hitler and become the new conclusion to online discussions under Godwin's Law?BaggyTrousers wrote:Snipe, catch yerself on, Dave may be a naughty boy but Hitler he ain't, not even Donald Trump.Snipe Watson wrote:Dave wrote:I did read it. Sorry - couldn't resist.
The real reason is that it' simply part of the natural progression of the thread before its culmination under Godwin's Law.

I loved it that time he played for Wales and danced a jig through the English back line to score, thus urinating on their chips once more!

I know! But who is the main man???!! Somebody has to be no.1. Who is it because Kiss's role isn't like D. Humphs old role it is much more hands on. I'm seeing it as Kiss will be making the calls but why would somebody like Gibbes come to Ulster from a team like Clermont to not be the top dog.Cockatrice wrote:Kiss is DoR and Gibbes is Head Coach just as Doak is Head Coach this year..HammerTime wrote:So, who is top dog then next year? Gibbes or Kiss? Who faces the music when the sh!t hits the fan as it probably will. If Gibbes is coming on the pretence that he is head coach/to get his release clause activated and is this a demotion of sorts for Kiss (would be strange) even if they are separate roles.
Re: Jono Gibbes - New Head Coach
Ruan is a fantastic player
BUT after 7 years no scrum half has emerged from under his wing
I'm not sure that he is a potential backs coach at the moment
Perhaps he should learn his trade elsewhere and then come home to Ulster

I may be allowing my admiration for Ruan to cloud my judgement, but I'm suggesting him as an assistant coach. Below a DOR and a head coach. I don't see why a guy should have to move away to take a junior coaches role.
How menial a role would you guys like him to take? AIL?

Bangor, he could go coach at Bangor, they seem to be going down the hill.Snipe Watson wrote:I may be allowing my admiration for Ruan to cloud my judgement, but I'm suggesting him as an assistant coach. Available for weddings May to August only
Re: Jono Gibbes - New Head Coach
Better for him to make a break from the squad for a few years, there is no evidence that he is coaching materialSnipe Watson wrote:I may be allowing my admiration for Ruan to cloud my judgement, but I'm suggesting him as an assistant coach.
