Concusion boosts risk of fresh injury
Came across this in the In Brief section of the current edition of News Scientist. It reports work carried out by Dominique Dubois at the University of Central Florida, Gainesville. It headlines with the statement "For up to 3 months after a concussion atheletes have an increased likelihood of a musculoskeletal injury to the lower limbs". Although this study looked at American football it is an interesting article in the context of not only the IRB focus on head injury but also the seemingly endless injury lists that top teams carry.

I chortled.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

There is a lot of evidence that indicates that drinking alcohol after a game significantly hinders recovery from soft tissue injuries.Amiga500 wrote:Correlation does not necessarily indicate causation.horslips wrote:It headlines with the statement "For up to 3 months after a concussion atheletes have an increased likelihood of a musculoskeletal injury to the lower limbs".
