Pre Season Fixtures

Post by DavyG »

Ulster Rugby has confirmed that it will play pre-season fixtures against English sides Northampton Saints and Exeter Chiefs in August.

Both teams are currently challenging for a play-off spot in the Aviva Premiership and will provide stern opposition for Les Kiss' squad.

Ulster will host Northampton at Kingspan Stadium on Friday 26th August 2016, kicking off at 7.30pm. The Saints have a hugely talented playing roster that includes a host of England internationals such as Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes, Tom Wood and Luther Burrell, along with Wales wing sensation George North.

For the first time, the home pre-season game will have a curtain-raiser, which will feature Ulster A versus Canada A at 5.15pm. The gates will open from 4.30pm and tickets for this double header start at just £15 for adults and £10 for children.

Both of these fixtures are included in the 2016/17 Season Ticket.

Ulster's pre-season preparations begin six days earlier with a trip to Sandy Park to take on Exeter on Saturday 20th August (kick off at 3pm). Rob Baxter's men narrowly missed out on qualification for this weekend's Champions Cup semi-finals.

I recommend sitting outside here for a couple of hours before the Exeter game.

Within easy staggering distance of the ground (make sure you take the motorway flyover though)

Given Ulster will have to rest all their players and Leinster won't as they faked injury I can see our second string beating Bobbo and Co

One of those 40 a side fixtures, thank God I'm off to Spain that day.

For anyone who might be interested in a day out to this fixture, URSC are considering running a bus if there is sufficient demand. Sure what else would you be doin' on a Saturday anyway?

Check here for details of how to register interest .............. and before anyone asks ........ no, it won't be on TV ........ as far as we know!

Maybe the URSC could get with modern times and stream the game through the following channels

1. Facebook live video (though given URSCs facebook issues may be a problem)
2. Youtube live stream (you could ask more proficient UR related social channels to help you)
3. Periscope

Time to become more relevant than just not running buses

Periscope is as much good as sitting watching a paper bag blowing around in the wind. Facebook live video from a phone is marginally better providing you have a good phone.
YouTube would work but if it is to be of any use you need a decent quality camera running at broadcast quality otherwise it is as much good as option 1 and 2
