Any word on the Academy?

Struggling to see how the ulster academy can be justifiably called the best academy setup in Ireland, but hardly surprising an ulster man like willie anderson who is involved with the setup would think that way.

I'm assuming that it is just that - the set-up that he considers best. Time will tell as this set- up has only been in place a short time. He obviously knows a thing or two about the Leinster set-up and considers it inferior.

He did concede that the Leinster one has been the best, purely on numbers of players coming through, but that he largely attributed to the high numbers going in to their set-up. Their catchment area and the number of good rugby schools in a small area means they have a high number of potential professional players, so it's hardly surprising that they turn out a higher number, but he thinks their system still doesn't get the best out of the players coming through.

Does that clarify? I think that was the gist of what he was saying.

Willie and Kieran don't want to catch up with Leinster, they want to surpass them, but they do acknowledge that for now, they are the benchmark,in terms of results.

appreciate the further explanation but it's rather amusing.. leinster are only good because of their numbers... hmmm okay.

hopefully they do surpass the leinster academy when it comes to player development.. i''d be eager to see it.

My understanding was that structures are in place to make us the best (future tense)we would target specific numbers from both schools and clubs rather than just sheer weight of numbers that Leinster have at their disposal....
