RBAI
MCB
CCB
Wallace

Will all do the exact same as St Michaels. Hence why they are way ahead of the rest in ulster school boy rugby.

Do you know KOTH or anyones else for that matter where if any of the money comes to support this?

Do Ulster rugby pay for a Director of Rugby at these schools? Do they offer gym equipment or video analysis equipment which must be expensive.

Is Ulster rugby in a position to approach schools and offer to take over / support their physical education programme?

Schools like Ballyclare High, Ballymena Academy, Regent House, Sullivan Upper with a bit of a rugby history would have a similar number of boys as St Michaels. Wouldn't appear the academic side of things are suffering either.
School obviously support it.

BRA ex pupils pay for mcglock.
Wallace pay Suffern but they have a guy raising money for the school.
Regent have got a DOR as well.

Ulster would be better paying 30-40k a year to 10-15 top coaches to help some of the school teams instead of getting a Piutau.

The numbers of staff in schools who don’t want to work on a Saturday for free (or 15quid a Saturday) has increased and can you blame them??

Schools rugby in Ulster has suffered massively from it. I remember playing block fixtures against another school where the u13 A-C, U14 A-C,Med A-C and 1XV -3XV played every Saturday and would of had a member of staff with every team. The school I went to is only playing one team in every year group now..........and I didn’t leave that long ago.

Staff is a major major issue.

The big Belfast teams now seem to have more Leinster schools than they have Ulster fixtures. I have heard there is talk of an All Ireland School competition which would take place before each of the provincial schools cup. Apparently looking into getting it televised like the Leinster schools cup.

Leinster schools seem to have a DOR in all the school who are paid handsomely to which Leinster are reaping the rewards.

If those Ulster Schools are doing everything exactly the same as St Michaels then we can’t be that far behind in producing a string of Internationals..

Michaels have had a number of freak years, a bit like MCB.

Jacko
Gilroy
Annett
Macklin
Heaney
Mcilroy
Carey
Kane
Allen
Leckey

Maybe not as many internationals but impressive.

Ah I dunno if it's freak years, they've been producing top prospects for multiple years since Luke McGrath and there is no sign of it ending.

I'm sure it's had some impact but that sure seems like a cop out from Rory.

Budge Pountney, DOR at Regent is doing a great job in instilling a love of the game in the kids in forms 1-3, focussing on skills ahead of the gym, ensuring the values of rugby are instilled, so drop off as kids move to senior school is limited.

Armagh Royal have Willie Faloon and Chris Parker coaching, they also coach City of Armagh.
