Just noticed that there were 79 guests a few seconds ago. Then it dropped down pretty sharpish to this, but before that there had been 109 in total.

In total there are 48 users online :: 0 Registered, 1 Hidden and 47 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]
Most users ever online was 109 on Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:07 pm
Registered Users: None

And since then its dropped down further.

Is this for real - there were 79 guests all at the same time

There are things such as web-bots that visit the site.
There will most likely always be at least one bot on this site, even at 4am. Trust me, I know.

Yeah I know - but 108 of them (given that I was the 109th).

Its not an issue, I just wondered thats all, especially as it is showing up as the most users online at any one time

well, mix in a number of guests as well i suppose.
mostly these bots are from search engines, scanning for new pages on the site etc, and often we do quite a few updates that need to be indexed by the searc engine in question. Googlebots are the most common. Others are bots looking for a 'hole' to exploit. Our security though is very good, and all are kicked back.

A total of 43 new pages uploaded to make the videos work this morning probably had all the bots in a panic updating them in their systems, they probably thought it was a new site

most of the rest of the time it is just updated pages not actually many new ones.

I get a heap of them within hours of uploading new pictures as well
