As a newbie to this board, is there anywhere that explains how to use the thing?

How do I see if anyone has responded to my posts?
How do I see my posting history?

Help - please?

After you have logged in,

Go to Profiles

Scroll down to Preferences

Notify me of replies
Notify me of personal messages
Tick Yes to both of these.

If you click on anyone's username (shown in red) their viewing profile appears, then click on Find all posts by Fly Half (in red).

Thanks for the reply Moondance.

I did as you suggested and ticked the box:
Always notify me of replies:
Sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post.
So the only way to see if I have any replies is to check my e-mail?
This seems pretty convoluted!

My usename only appears in red where I have started a thread or am the most recent poster on a thread, so in order to see my posts I have to:
a) find a thread I've started
or
b) post to a thread to get last poster status and then click on my username.

I know I am definitely missing something here.

Thanks for the reply anyway - Have a marvellous night.

the little indicators beside each thread show whether there are un-read posts on them by changing colour. If you want a more active indication you have to select the e-mail me option.

There is a search feature in the options at the top oof the MB - you can search on all sorts of criteria there including your (or someone else's) username.

If you pick the notify me of replies thing, you will get a shed load of emails.

Yeah I agree - I did that at first and it got annoying. Best thing is just to log on regularly and look for the wee yellow flags - means there has been a new response on that thread since you were last in it. As for your own postings. If you click on your own profile (when you post) up pops your profile and in red there is a link to find all postings made by yourself. Hope this helps :D

Thanks for the help everyone.

As far as I can see there is no link to my posts if I click on the "profile" button at the top of the page. If I click on the "profile" button after my post then there is a link to ll my posts. So again the only way to use this connection is to find one of my existing posts.

I haven't noticed any yellow flags, but from the last post column it is possible to see whether someone else has posted or not. The only difficulty with this is that there could be more than a page worths of posts after my last one so I have so page back until I find the first reply.

Anyway I'm sure I'll get the hang of it any year now!

Very astute cables. As usual your attention to detail surpasses the rest of us mere mortals.

As cables says fly half - happy first birthday

If you aren't getting the coloured flags it may be because you are not signed-in when you return to the board. Try Selecting the option to "keep me signed in on this computer".

If you are genuinely signed in then there is a section at the bottom of the MB which lists all those active, registered posters who are logged in and not hiding their identities. If you click on your own name there it will bring up a profile box with the option to "find all posts by fly half".

If these don't work then you are having us on.

Judy you are half way there. It's Norn Iron. But you have to say Norn Iron with a Norn Iron accent for it to sound right. :D

Maybe for ''g'day'' you should try 'bout ye' - otherwise 'dead on' as they used to say hereabouts!
