Re: Replacement 10

This is just another case of people on here having over inflated ideas of Ulsters position in the rugby world. McPhillips has played a handful of pro games, and has at times looked competent. Compare that to the experience of Jantjes who has had the odd blooper. They are worlds apart. Having said th...

Re: Replacement 10

In summary, what Baggy is saying is that only an idiot would think that the second choice fly half for South Africa would be a bad signing for a team like Ulster who had only one unproven option in that position.

And he’s dead right

Totally agree. Just imagine if he had played with a decent Ulster side

Re: Dear Bryn

This bashing of the signing of Charles is really getting old. We did sign a marque back rower for the same season, Charles’ signing did not prevent that. We were only going to be allowed by D4 to sign a back. Already had a NIQ 9. Had paddy so certainly weren’t signing a 10. Had the two stu’s, cave, ...

Re: Replacement 10

I can’t be the only one who would feel sad to hear that Ruan is hanging up his boots early because the family aren’t happy in France?

Never mind the irony of him coming here as a coach when he could still add so much on the pitch

Re: Replacement 10

I actually think there is useful ground between Charles being the highest paid player in the Pro14 at £500k per year and an average Dave on under £100k. Sometimes you get what you pay for and yes that can be compounded with an injury or two but I think there are few of us that truly believe Charles...

That would be a huge mistake. If they aren’t an improvement on the southern kings then they have no place in the league

PRO14 to expand further

So two new SA teams to join from 19/20, with another the following year. Guess this is good news?? Effectively means all of SA club rugby will be with the PRO14/16/whatever, which should mean good quality opposition, and more games again. Does raise a few questions tho. What will the new format be? ...
