Re: Rugby on the Box

Daft notion and incredibly short-sighted to suggest TV is the reason for poor attendance. Poor performances are one big reason. Also factor in KO times, weather, how much is at stake, quality of opposition etc. And what defines "poor" attendance? I'd be surprised if our attendance %s weren...

Re: Richie Murphy - right man for the job?

Jimmy Duffy joining the coaching staff, has worked with Murphy in the U20s before. Strange quote from the announcement below, co-forward coaches? “Alongside Roddy, he is set to bring the best out of our forwards, including the younger homegrown guys currently coming through into the Senior set-up. ...

Re: Ulster v Leinster Saturday May 18 7:35pm TG4 / Premier Sports (UK) 1 / Premier Sports (Ireland) 1 / Super Sport / UR

99% of last night’s crowd aren’t going to see Ulster play again this season (unless we get Leinster I suppose). Absolutely massive therefore that we signed off at home like that in front of a full house. Proper atmosphere throughout the game and a perfect ending. Suddenly, there’s a sense of optimi...

Re: Squad depth 2024/25

I thought EOS had a great game on Saturday against the Scarlets. He played for the full 80 minutes and had a thundering run at the end of the first half - only to be taken down by a flying drop kick from Gareth Davies. I thought he scrummage well as well. I'm pleased he is staying - he looks to be ...

Re: Squad depth 2024/25

A signing like Morgan might help but I'd feel very good about Murphy jnr heading this way. I'm enjoying young players getting a crack. I think we shouldn't expect too much from Murphy this season, he's still very young. He'd be behind Flannery in terms of his career progression. One for the future ...

Re: Squad depth 2024/25

On the coaching front, Willie F taking the reins with the Irish U20s. Neil Doak joining the coaching team as well - does that open a space in the UR Academy coaching the forwards? Imagine Doak will continue as backs coach alongside Irish U20s role.

Re: Richie Murphy - right man for the job?

Excellent news. But he needs to be given the opportunity to succeed with his own coaching team around him. That might be an "after next season" thing though I fear when contracts are up.

Re: The run in

Surely Ulster would take another financial hit if they end up in the Challenge Cup next year?

We have some good young players who need conditioning and intensive skills training. Newby must be gone with Bell
Ruan was interviewed on a podcast there and he said he'd be interested in a skills coaching role. Get him signed!

I'm just speculating but can see QUB getting special dispensation to keep them because they "partnered" with UR, but this is purely my guess.

Re: The Decline of Ferris

He's meant to be an informed pundit as a former player. He did this to encourage a pile-on, and his justification / clap-back at Stu is a load of cobblers. It doesn't matter whether Ferris has a point or not. It's the sort of thing a random supporter like you or I would put up on Twitter. He seems t...
