Re: Ulster v Toulouse Sat Apr 16 8pm KO BT Sport 2

Disappointed ? Yes. Downhearted ? No. Thought Dan McF sums it up well. I would concur that it was the intercept try that made the hill an almost insurmoutable one. And that was because we needed to be 2 scores (14+ points) ahead of Toulouse to withstand their last 10 minutes, when almost any team wi...

Re: Toulouse Vs Ulster - Man of the match

The atmosphere at Ravers has been flat most of the time for a while now. We can hardly get a single round of SUFTUM at the start of either half and next to nothing thereafter. When was the last time we had a 'Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio' when an oppo player was sent to the sin bin? Like the 'most of ...

Resale tickets for some parts of the ground available now. Didn't realise they increased in price, more gouging by ticketmaster? Does the seller get full price? I had it from before that they only got 75% of value. Some interesting stuff going on here (and I mean interesting in the way this is bein...

Re: URC 2021/22 - Other Sides

Christ on a bike. The league celebrates and rewards incompetence. Well, the last two times we've had Frank (away and home v Leinster) he's been ok..... nothing outrageous. Perhaps he reads this board and has taken the strictures to heart. Sometimes two swallows do make a summer...... It's the combi...

Re: Stormers v Ulster Saturday March 26 1pm (UK Time) Super Sport (SA) / Premier Sports 1 / URC TV (Not in UK/SA)

Thank you Justin73. I was surprised at the inclusion of Hendo for a 12 hour flight after being the only player from Ulster to play 70+ minutes in the last two weeks at test level. It's great to see him willing and able to go and he's hardly likely to have gone all that way to carry water bottles or ...

Great to see Luke M back - a really decent option off the bench but he'll do well to get there soon. But just the right time to have him ready, along with Tom O'Toole. Somewhat surprised to see Hendo and Treadwell travelling, but if someone offered me 2 weeks in Cape Town in 25c (and 15c at night) r...

Re: 6 nations 22

It seems pretty clear to me that you can hold the ball AND use the same arm to 'attack' the defender. So, 'he was holding the ball' is no defence at all. Running at speed and deliberately raising your arm to the defender's throat/chin is potentially catastrophic. However, if that's what the law sta...

And don't get me started on Dads who only coach when their sons are playing for that team... and once he stops playing for that club, the Dad stops too.... GRRRRR.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

My son plays at one of the said big rugby schools, and as they move up through school the more semi pro it becomes, from Meds onwards in particular. While he is loving rugby at school, he also lives in fear of losing his place (something expressed by quite a few parents), which makes me exceptional...

Re: 6 nations 22

If Barnes thought Schoeman's left arm was round the ball, he was living in dreamland!. It was a clear forearm to the face and, in addition, Schoeman actually drove up at him, even though Hendy's knees were bent. Probably not dangerous enough to warrant a red but a cast-iron yellow for me. I remembe...

Re: 6 nations 22

Firstly - that is definitely not what i am seeing. I'm seeing an upright tackle which had their heads not hit would have been legal (on the edge of high, but still legal). From the angles I saw, Initial contact was definitely not head on head. Have to say, that's what my first take was too..... ?an...

Re: Ulster v Leinster Saturday March 12th 7:35pm KO Premier Sports 1 & TG4

Was the ecauation of the temp stand not v Quins in a blizzard? If it was the Quins HEC match, then it was my recollection that the temp Memorial End Stand was there, but due to the high winds and rain, deemed too dangerous to be used by spectators. Didn't seem to stop UR keeping the late great marq...

Re: Ulster v Leinster Saturday March 12th 7:35pm KO Premier Sports 1 & TG4

Agree with both BR and Justin73 in that this match was very much played to orders. Reasonably sure the 2 Dans can read a weather forecast and watch videos of Leinster. I would contend that, even if it was the Sainted PJ in the 10 shirt, with Doak and Cooney at 9 the methodology would have been much ...

Note that UR are still advertising ticket availability for the home game v Toulouse..... is it the cost putting people off ?

Re: Ulster v Leinster Saturday March 12th 7:35pm KO Premier Sports 1 & TG4

Well, sounds like it didn't rain at all on TV then..... those at the ground will know it was coming in sideways - even well up into the new Old Grandstand. And cold too. In the first half we used the wind and rain reasonably well (some over-long box kicks notwithstanding) and put 18 points on Leinst...
