Whether last week’s game should or shouldn’t have been played is irrelevant. What happened in Paris last Friday was a tragedy and our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by the events.

And so, in a show of solidarity, we move on to round two which now becomes our round one, and what is undoubtedly the game we have all been looking forward to ever since the pool draw was made. Prepare yourselves ladies and gentlemen and get your singing voices in tune – Saracens are coming back...

Last week is behind us, there has to be a focused effort on moving forward now.

We could languish in last week and what went wrong, but the easiest explanation is probably that Saracens were a cut above us and played the conditions far better than we did and deservedly head back to Barnet with the five points. As many have been saying, perhaps the Champions’ Cup is beyond us this season as it was last season, but perhaps we should also wait until after the Toulouse double-header before...

However, with a new Director of Rugby at the helm it’s natural for a team to go through a bit of a transitional period, so there is also a case to wait it out and see what comes of it. At least our defence was solid for the...

In a World Cup year there is a very short break between the European pool matches – I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether that’s a good thing or not.

Off the back of a performance of two halves against Edinburgh, in which the first we established our platform and then in the second we mastered the conditions to protect it, we turn our attentions back to the Champions’ Cup and the arrival of Toulouse to the sunny shores of Northern Ireland, fresh off their battering of pool rivals...

Well, that wasn’t expected!

From our scintillating and clinical attacking to our stubborn and water-tight defence, last Friday night was as close to a perfect performance as you’re probably going to see with too many fantastic individual performances to single out. Say what you want about Toulouse, yes they were poor but only because we closed them down expertly and made sure that their big ball carriers were rendered completely ineffective.

But, as has been made abundantly clear, last...
