Now that we’re off the mark, it’s time for Ulster to keep the ball rolling and get their home campaign going too with a win over ever-improving Treviso.

Having defeated league leaders at the time Munster 29-19 last weekend, the Italians have plenty of reason to be confident coming into tomorrow’s match, especially considering their record at Ravenhill is very impressive – having won, drawn and lost one match in the thee seasons they have been part of the Pro12.

They’re not the most...

A strong five-try performance from Ulster against Treviso last night saw them return to the top four of the Pro12.

Tries from Luke Marshall, Rory Best, Tommy Bowe and two from winger Michael Allen were enough to give Ulster their first home win of the season against a spirited Treviso outfit.

Treviso’s points came from a Roberto Barbieri try along with a penalty from Mat Berquist and a penalty and a conversion from replacement fly-half Alberto di Bernardo.

Ulster were the side that got out of...

Now that we’ve got a bonus point win on the board, it’s fair to say our season has really kicked off. Compared to our first two games of the season, the Connacht and Treviso matches have been very impressive and our season is starting to gain momentum. Of course, that must continue.

However, matches don’t come any tougher than this. Away to the Ospreys is one of the matches that every team dreads, and whenever the home team is unbeaten (including a 29-29 draw in Dublin against Leinster)...

There are few better ways to prepare for the Heineken Cup than winning away to the Ospreys, and thankfully that’s what Ulster did last night in a dogged comeback performance at the Liberty Stadium.

12-0 down early in the second half thanks to four Dan Biggar penalties, Ulster worked their way back into the game through the boot of Paddy Jackson, eventually passing Biggar’s total for the evening and taking home the four points in an 18-12 victory.

The game itself was not the spectacle that...

I’m not quite sure where to start this week.

Alright, before I get started on the game, I have to say how absolutely fantastic it is to have Ruan Pienaar signed up for another three seasons. Just goes to show you, not every player is out for the money and in my book his decision to turn down €50,000 a month at Toulon to stay here is credit to both Pienaar and Ulster. If that isn’t a message to other players that what we do here is good then I don’t know what is.

Ruan Pienaar – Ulster...

Match Report: Ulster Rugby 22-16 Leicester Tigers

Ulster won their first Heineken Cup match of the season with a hard-fought 22-16 victory over Aviva Premiership champions Leicester Tigers at Ravenhill last night.

The game was a far closer affair than the two previous games at Ravenhill where Ulster won 33-0 and 41-7, and it was a close-run contest for the whole match.

An early Logovi’i Mulipola try had Leicester on the front foot at the start of the game, but a try from winger Tommy Bowe put Ulster level soon afterwards. From there it was...
