Lewis Stevenson leaves Ulster with immediate effect

Ulster second row Lewis Stevenson has been granted an early release from his contract to join Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs with immediate effect.

Stevenson, 31, was contracted until the end of the season, however he has been allowed to join Exeter with immediate effect due to Exeter’s injury problems in the second row.

Stevenson only started four games this season, with his last appearance coming in the 24-23 win over Oyonnax where he only played in the first half.

Four Hughes Insurance Ulster Academy players have been selected by head coach Nigel Carolan for the Ireland U20s squad for the upcoming RBS U20s Six Nations Championship.

Centre Jacob Stockdale and hooker Adam McBurney will play in their second Six Nations for the Ireland U20s having both featured last season while there are debut call-ups for winger Robert Lyttle and fly-half Johnny McPhillips.

Ulster Rugby have announced that England U20s lock Kieran Treadwell will join the province on a two-year deal starting next season from English side Harlequins.

Treadwell, 20, can also play in the back row however he is predominantly a second row.

Ulster have announced that Irish international tighthead prop Rodney Ah You will join the province on a two-year deal.

27-year old Ah You will join from fellow Irish province Connacht from the start of next season and will compete with Wiehahn Herbst and Ricky Lutton for a starting place in Ulster’s front row.

Ulster have announced that number eight Nick Williams will leave the province when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

The 32-year old will join fellow Guinness PRO12 side Cardiff Blues on a long-term deal starting in the 2016/17 season.

Ulster Rugby have released an injury update after their game with Edinburgh Rugby on Friday night headlined by the news that flanker Iain Henderson has suffered a significant hamstring tear.
