The Ulster v Ospreys Magners League fixture, due to take place on Friday 8th January 2010, kick off 7.05pm, has now been officially cancelled.
A pitch inspection was undertaken at Ravenhill today, by the IRFU Referees' department, who based on the current condition of the playing surface and the weather forecast for the next few days', have deemed the pitch at Ravenhill Stadium unplayable, for Fridays scheduled fixture. The match will be rescheduled for another date.
Tickets purchased for Friday's Ulster v Ospreys match will be valid for the rearranged fixture date.

Disappointing but not unexpected! It might give our "barebones" backrow more time to recover!

Oh, Nooo!!! This is bad for Ulster as the points would have been odds-on but now my wife will find me something else to do, the lovely person.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and

Would be the best time for Ulster in relation to the amount of players the O's would loss compared to Ulster

Though going by the weather forecast, there won't much rugby (or any sport) played this weekend so the powers that be might arrange another round of fixtures at some point, such as between the regular season and the playoffs.

That's because the fat controller was busy trying to get more food outlets and a bigger beer tent plus find a printer willing to wait to 6pm on Friday then print the programmes for delivery at 6:30 pm with correct teams to keep you happy this Friday to have time to put the covers back on before he went to bed on Saturday night.
Notice I said fat controller and not fit controller who appears to be waiting for warmer weather before he appears.

The former is staying on until end of January; the latter will appear sometime in February - whether that will be warmer remains to be seen

Interesting to See when they reschedule this game for. The 5 free weekends in the 6 nations - 5/6/7 Feb, 12/13/14 Feb, 26/27/28 Feb, 12/13/14 Mar and 19/20/21 Mar. The first of those according to the IRFU website has an Ireland A v Scotland A game for Ravenhill and the 12/13/14 Feb, 26/27/28 Feb and 12/13/14 Mar has Raven fixtures. That leaves only the 19/20/21 if all those other fixtures take place as scheduled, alternatively it could be played on the last weekend of Jan, but again there is an Ireland A game v Saxons in Bath scheduled.

Not much room for manoeuvre!

Gusher was on the wireless yesterday predicting the first or last weekend in Feb, and more likely the last one with the Ravens getting moved to Shaws Bridge or somewhere.

He also said that UR were trying to source heaters and extra insulated covers ahead of the HEC fixture, but they were finding them hard to come by with English football clubs also trying to get hold of them.
